Community

We have been a part of the Blackfalds community for some time.  The residents along the track have been wonderful.  Day before race day you see them out mowing their lawn getting it ready for the fans to sit on and cheer on the racers.

When the racing first began it was in conjunction with Blackfalds Days.  Then the centenial year came around the Soapbox committee made the decision the hold the race on a different day as we all wanted to partake in the 100yr celebration festivities.  Upon doing this we had a great turn out for the race with racers and volunteers and we were asked to keep it seperate from Blackfalds days as the racers were having to make a choice which to participate in.  Since then we have held the race seperately from Blackfalds Days which takes place the first weekend in June.  We try and schedule the race for 2 weeks after that.
